Dear parents / carers,

Below you will find details of our home learning plan for the next week and a half, replacing 8 school days (23rd-27th March, 30 March – 1 April) This is phase 1 of home learning. Phase 2 will commence after the Easter Holidays. Just to remind you, we have set up a home learning email address – homelearning@set.education so that you can email any questions you might have during the school closure time. Mrs Humphrey and Mrs Norris will monitor this between 10am and 2pm each day (Monday to Friday).

Home Learning Stage 1

First and foremost, we would like to encourage all members of our schools to write a letter / make a picture for someone in our community – the elderly / people living on their own in the village. Once written, these letters can be posted through the front door of the Burning Bush Barn next to the church in Rockland st Mary – Rev Nick and the church will then arrange for these letters to be delivered to the right homes.

In the table below are suggested activities for each year group:

EYFS Write a letter for someone in our community. Reading, practicing phonics (set phases to focus on?) Complete some activities found within the Home Learning Pack on Twinkl for EYFS.

Y1 Write a letter for someone in our community. Reading, phonics, practicing words from the National Curriculum word lists – which can be found in the center of the reading records or via website link. Practice number bonds, watch some episodes of Numberblocks. Complete some activities found within the Home Learning Pack on Twinkl for KS1. Use Timestable Rockstars to practice multiplication facts.

Y2 Write a letter for someone in our community. Reading, phonics, practicing words from the National Curriculum word lists – which can be found in the center of the reading records or via website link. Practice number bonds, watch some episodes of Numberblocks Complete some activities found within the Home Learning Pack on Twinkl for KS1. Use Timestable Rockstars to practice multiplication facts.

Y3 Write a letter for someone in our community. Reading, practicing words from the National Curriculum word lists – which can be found in the center of the reading records or via website link. Complete some activities found within the Home Learning Pack on Twinkl for KS2. Practice multiplication and division facts using Timestable Rockstars. https://rocklands.rocklandsurlingham.org.uk/wp-admin/post.php?post=632&action=edit&classic-editor

Y4 Write a letter for someone in our community. Reading, practicing words from the National Curriculum word lists – which can be found in the center of the reading records or via website link. Complete some activities found within the Home Learning Pack on Twinkl for KS2. Practice multiplication and division facts using Timestable Rockstars.

Y5 Write a letter for someone in our community. Reading, practicing words from the National Curriculum word lists – which can be found in the center of the reading records or via website link. Complete some activities found within the Home Learning Pack on Twinkl for KS2. Practice multiplication and division facts using Timestable Rockstars.

Y6 Write a letter for someone in our community. Reading, practicing words from the National Curriculum word lists – which can be found in the center of the reading records or via website link. Complete some activities found within the Home Learning Pack on Twinkl for KS2. Practice multiplication and division facts using Timestable Rockstars. CGP books for SATs practice.

We recognise that this is new territory for us all and we do not want to cause extra stress and anxiety in an already worrying time. We know that finding time in the day to carry out some home learning with your child will be a challenge. Please can we encourage you to find a way that works for you and your family.

As well as the suggestions above, you could also ask your child to keep a diary of what they do each day. They could record this in the exercise book they brought home on Friday. Or play some board games (banangrams, scrabble, yahzee, etc) as a family.

Online Resources

There are a wealth of resources available on the internet. Lots of companies are providing free access for parents and children during this time of school closure. Below are a few suggestions from us – but please do look at others too.

This document contains the spelling lists for each year group. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/239784/English_Appendix_1_-_Spelling.pdf

Twinkl has lots of resources that we use in school. They are currently offering temporary access to parents if you use the following details: www.twinkl.co.uk/offer

enter the code UKTWINKLHELPS

TimesTable Rockstars has given us free access to Numbots during this period of school closure. Your child can use their Timestable Rockstar log in details to access these resources too: https://play.numbots.com

Don’t forget – we would also really love to keep our community spirit alive by sharing our home learning experiences. Please can we encourage you to send in photographs of your child doing their home learning (use the homelearning@set.education) so that we can

share our ideas and inspire each other? We can share these photos via our school website / twitter.

Happy home learning!
